The Bloombux® is an alternative to Buxus! This new, creative cultivated variety is in fact not a Buxus but a rhododendron. Our Bloombux® combines the positive properties of boxwood with the advantages of rhododendron!

The flowers of the Bloombux® are not only pleasing to the eye, they also attract all kinds of useful insects. Bumblebees in particular, as well as bees and butterflies, are attracted to the flowers of this buxus substitute.

What is the Bloombux® exactly?

The Bloombux® & Bloombux® Magenta - botanical name Rhododendron micranthum 'Microhirs 3' & 'Microhirs 9' - belongs to the dwarf shrubs. Like Buxus, the Bloombux® is hardy and is suitable as a pot plant or as a hedge or surface planting in the garden. Those who put the Bloombux® in their garden as an alternative to Buxus benefit from a low growth height of up to 70 centimetres. This makes maintenance of the Bloombux® simple and uncomplicated.

The Bloombux® makes relatively few demands on location and soil quality. Even calcareous soil is no problem for the Bloombux®; however, the soil must be airy. Another characteristic of the Bloombux® is its unique floral display in early summer. In the peak season, you can look forward to large flowers with a diameter of up to 8 cm. This makes the Bloombux® a feast for your garden.
